Terms and Conditions

Updated: May 14, 2026

Welcome to SecBoss. By using our application, you are choosing a path of digital sovereignty. Because SecBoss is built on a Customizable, Local-First, Zero-Knowledge philosophy, our relationship with you is different from traditional service providers.

Please read these terms carefully. By accessing or using SecBoss, you agree to be bound by these conditions.

1. The "Zero-Knowledge" Philosophy
SecBoss is a customizable, local-first secure notes app. We provide the architecture (the "Fortress"), but you are the sole warden.
  • No Centralized Storage: Your notes database lives on your device. We do not host, store, or have access to your notes data.
  • No Backdoors: Our encryption protocols are designed so that only your master password can unlock your notes.
  • Unknown Structure: Because you design your own custom fields, templates, and note structures, we have no knowledge of what you store or how it is organized.
2. Account Creation & Your Keys
Creating an account requires only an email address, a username, and a password.
  • Secret Key & Recovery Phrase: Upon account creation, SecBoss generates a secret key and recovery phrase(s) unique to you. These are shown to you once for your own safekeeping. We do not retain a copy and have no record of them.
  • Master Password: Your master password never leaves your device. It is not transmitted to or stored on our servers.
3. User Responsibility (The Sovereign Burden)
Reclaiming your digital sovereignty comes with significant responsibility.
  • Master Password Recovery: Because your master password stays on your device and we do not have access to it, we cannot reset it for you.
  • Secret Key & Recovery Phrase Safekeeping: If you lose your master password, secret key, and recovery phrase, your notes are mathematically unrecoverable. It is your sole responsibility to store these safely.
  • Device Security: You are responsible for the physical and digital security of the device where SecBoss is installed.
  • Local Backups: We highly recommend maintaining encrypted local backups. SecBoss is not responsible for data loss due to hardware failure, theft, or accidental deletion.
4. Sync, Sharing & Remote Wipe
  • Manual Device Sync: You may manually sync your notes to another device by transiting encrypted, disposable data. This data is immediately deleted upon receipt and is never retained.
  • Sharing Records: You may choose to share individual records with other users, either online or offline. Shared data remains encrypted and is transmitted at your direction.
  • Remote Data Wipe: SecBoss provides a remote wipe feature you may use to erase your local data. Once triggered and executed, wiped data cannot be recovered by you or by us.
5. Privacy & Data Collection
Our business model is built on your privacy, not your data.
  • Data Minimization: We save only your username and email address, solely to maintain your account and subscription record.
  • Zero Tracking: SecBoss does not track your usage habits or sell your metadata.
  • Telemetry: We may collect anonymous, non-identifiable technical data (e.g., crash reports) only if you explicitly opt-in, solely to improve the app's stability.
6. License and Use
  • Grant of License: We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use SecBoss for its intended purpose: securing your personal notes.
  • Prohibited Actions: You agree not to attempt to decompile, reverse engineer, or bypass the security features of SecBoss for malicious purposes or to distribute "cracked" versions of the software.
7. Intellectual Property
The SecBoss name, branding, and proprietary code are the intellectual property of Theydreamer. However, the data stored within your device, along with the custom fields, templates, and note structures you design, remains 100% your property.
8. Limitation of Liability SecBoss is provided "As Is." To the maximum extent permitted by law:
  • We are not liable for any data loss, unauthorized access resulting from user negligence, or device-side security breaches (e.g., malware on your phone/PC).
  • We are not liable for data loss resulting from a lost master password, secret key, or recovery phrase, or from use of the remote wipe feature.
  • In no event shall SecBoss be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
9. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms to reflect new features or security standards. We will notify you of changes via an in-app announcement.
